Coinbase to Offer 24/7 Bitcoin & Ether Futures in US

Coinbase announced it will launch round-the-clock trading for Bitcoin and Ether futures for U.S. customers, a first for a U.S.-regulated venue. Starting soon (as of Mar. 10 announcement), Coinbase's U.S. derivatives platform will introduce perpetual futures that trade 24/7, unlike traditional CME crypto futures that close on weekends.

The move comes as much of crypto derivatives volume has been offshore; Coinbase is working with the CFTC to ensure compliance as it expands U.S. access to perpetuals. This could give U.S. traders a new avenue for around-the-clock leveraged crypto trading, competing with offshore exchanges and rival brokerages like Robinhood.
